USAID releases forecasts of anticipated activities on a periodic basis throughout the year. A First Quarter 2017 forecast was released on November 18 for both Washington and Mission offices. These forecasts can be accessed here and the excel files are also attached to this email.
APLU has reviewed these forecasts and has identified opportunities directly related to higher education, workforce development and research opportunities (highlighted in yellow), agriculture (highlighted in green) and capacity building (highlighted in purple) on the attached spreadsheet..
Your institutions may want to review the forecasts for additional projects that might be of interest in focused subject areas.
We’d also like to remind APLU members to provide feedback to USAID’s request for information on the Center for Development Research (CDR), which leads the Lab’s Science Objective, which aims to increase the use of scientific research to improve development outcomes. CDR is currently composed of three flagship programs, the Higher Education Solutions Network, the Partnership for Enhanced Engagement in Research, and the Science Policy programs (including USAID Research Policy and Coordination, AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellows, Jefferson Science Fellows, Seeding Labs, and Research and Innovation Fellows). You can provide feedback on this ROI at this link through 5:00 PM on December 2, 2016.
The APLU International Programs Office team is available as a resource and partner to you as you explore and apply for these and other collaborative higher education development opportunities. If APLU’s location in Washington, DC; the experience and knowledge of our team; and our ability to tap into the sizeable expertise of the higher education community in Africa, the U.S. and other countries can strengthen your application, please do not hesitate to contact us about becoming a partner.
