This assistance opportunity flows from a new partnership between Catholic Rural Life, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), and the USAID Farmer-to-Farmer program. Farmer-to-Farmer (F2F) is a government-based program that connects farmers in the United States with farmers in East Africa for training and technical assistance. The project will focus on the East African nations of Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda and will offer project assignments throughout the year.
Catholic Rural Life is one of several partners who will help identify and engage knowledgeable American volunteers involved in agriculture and business. Those volunteers will travel to Africa and provide training to local farmers. Volunteers may be individuals, farmers, business owners, academic faculty, and industry leaders with a range for expertise including grains and animal husbandry, agri-business, leadership, business start-up/training, nutrition, and food supply.
The CRS Farmer-to-Farmer program wishes to place over 300 volunteers, in order to conduct 500 volunteer assignments within a five-year period. Volunteers will travel, expenses-paid, to East Africa for a two to six-week assignment.
This is a great opportunity to share your talents and skills to improve the lives of East African farmers and their families.
We are reaching out to our CRL contacts and allies across the country to help us identify potential volunteers. I appreciate your time reading this email and I welcome your questions.
